Useful properties and application of valerian root
Nervous system: has an effective prolonged calming and antispasmodic effect in nervous excitement, migraine, insomnia; inhibits mental overexcitement. It is used as a calming and antispasmodic agent for convulsions of various origins. Relieves spasms of the brain.
Digestive system: increases the secretion of the glands of the digestive tract, relieves spasms in the esophagus and stomach (stops heartburn, nausea, pain syndrome, "effect of heaviness", "effect of overflow"), in the biliary tract, intestines, helps with diseases of the liver and biliary tract. Successfully used as an anthelmintic agent (in particular, for tapeworms)
Reproductive system: used for algomenorrhea (pain syndrome during the menstrual cycle). Pregnant women as a sedative and for gestosis (toxicosis), with the threat of miscarriage.
